SATURDAY/SUNDAY – JANUARY 18/19, 2014

BOTTOM LINE:

Drive from Wellington to Taupo

Drive Taupo to Auckland

BACKSTORY:

The drive from Wellington to Taupo and then Taupo to Auckland were repeats for us except that we were traveling in the opposite direction...south to north. 

There really is nothing new to report that hasn't already been said.  I am therefore giving myself permission to not write for a few days until we leave Auckland and begin our journey into the northern regions.

We are looking forward to venturing north of Auckland on Monday. We are very much in need of some warmer “summer” weather and to just relax.  As luck would have it, there is a cyclone moving directly into the area that we are headed.  Luckily it us a category one and we will be visiting the area for a long week so hopefully we will see the sun before returning to Auckland for our New Zealand departure on Feb. 1^st.
